About the Presenter:

Dr. Thalheimer is a well-known speaker and author on the subject of learning evaluation. He is also a Somerville resident and member of the Greater Boston ATD chapter. The title of his address is: “The New LTEM Model, The Future of Evaluation?” He will briefly introduce the Learning-Transfer Evaluation Model, and lead the group in a discussion of LTEM’s uses and opportunities for the SIG.

Measurement SIG Mission

The mission of the group will be to enhance members’ professional development in measurement and evaluation; to increase the effectiveness of their L&D organizations through measurement and evaluation; and to engage with the global community of L&D practitioners in applying measurement and evaluation to deliver performance and results through learning.

The group will address a wide range of topics, from getting started in defining methods, tools and processes of data collection, to more advanced applications, such as, measuring technology-enabled and blended learning. The group welcomes members with little or no background in measurement and evaluation, through more experienced practitioners.

About Tom Atkinson, Measurement SIG Leader

Tom is a well-accomplished Learning Analytics consultant, with a career-long passion for tracking and enhancing results through learning. He leads Atkinson Analytics, which helps clients achieve and demonstrate greater value throughout the learning process, from defining needs to measuring the learning experience, on-job application and business results. His most recent work includes measuring the results of training for sales representatives of a leading global pharmaceutical firm.

Previously, he was Director of Learning Projects and Measures for Fresenius Medical Care, a global provider of premier care for people with renal and other chronic conditions. His accomplishments included conducting an ROI study of 1000+ sessions of their flagship leadership development program.

Tom was Research Director and Senior Consultant at The Forum Corporation (now AchieveForum), where he built learning measurement systems for dozens of major companies, as well as publishing research on best practices in leadership, sales, learning and measurement. He also was a Specialist Master at Deloitte Consulting, working with major client companies on tracking the results of learning and development.

Tom’s education includes a Ph.D. from Boston College (Psychology), an M.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University (Psychology), and a B.A. from the University of Connecticut (Psychology). He is an active member of the ATD national organization and Greater Boston Chapter.
