Learning Measurement SIG Presents:
From Cost-Center to Strategic Asset Proving the Real-World Impact of Training
Mike Saunderson, Ph.D.
Friday, June 13, 2025
2:30 to 3:30 PM
Virtual event - link in registration email
DESCRIPTION:
Many organizations assume that their training efforts lead to improved performance, but research has shown otherwise. While Level 1 (reaction) and Level 2 (learning) are routinely measured, most learning teams lack the tools and confidence to evaluate behavioral change (Level 3) and business results (Level 4). This session introduces five essential questions that align training design and evaluation with measurable outcomes. By implementing this framework, learning and development professionals can confidently demonstrate the true impact of training and secure their role as strategic business partners.
OBJECTIVES:
By attending the session, you will be able to:
-
Identify five essential questions that link training to measurable business impacts.
-
Distinguish between Kirkpatrick Levels 1–4 and Phillips ROI to understand gaps in current evaluation practices.
-
Apply practical methods for observing, measuring, and reporting behavior changes (Level 3).
-
Select meaningful metrics to evaluate business outcomes linked to training (Level 4).
-
Develop realistic timelines and stakeholder strategies for post-training evaluations.
