Looking Good on Paper:

Career Positioning for L&D Professionals

Ross Squire; Angela Justice, PhD;  Eric Annable

Wednesday, March 8, 2017

6:00pm–8:30pm

By now, just about everyone working in Learning & Development is familiar with the rapidly changing learning environment in the workplace. We’re now in the midst of an exciting new world that includes flipped classrooms, micro-learning, infographics, gamification, virtual reality, and much more.

But what about the rapidly changing environment of your professional portfolio? Whether you are actively looking for a new opportunity or not, you should be keeping your professional portfolio up to date. And the days of updating your resume now and then are long gone. Now there are many more alternatives to consider:

  • Should you have an e-portfolio with samples of your work?
  • Is the format of your resume going to maximize results when it is scanned by a recruiting software tool? (Hint: there are simple formatting tricks that DO make a difference!)
  • Should you have a resume on Monster, CareerBuilder, Dice, and Indeed?
  • Do you need a Master’s Degree or will a certificate do the trick?
  • What more can you do in LinkedIn to highlight your professional achievements?
  • Should you tweet or should you just follow?

ATD Greater Boston is very excited to present a panel discussion that will answer those questions and much more. Our esteemed panel will include:

Ross Squire, Founder, CEO, KnowledgeStaff: A veteran in placing Learning & Development professionals into organizations in Boston and NYC. Ross got his start in the Boston area and then founded Knowledge Staff in NYC in 2002. He has worked with a wide variety of L&D professionals across many vertical industries.

Angela Justice, PhD, Chief Learning Officer, Biogen: A visionary leader in a global biopharmaceutical corporation who can offer first-hand insights to the 21st Century skills that are valued in an L&D organization. Angela has held key leadership positions in centralized and decentralized L&D departments, and will certainly be able to offer helpful insights to help with our career growth decisions.

Eric Annable, Recruiting Manager, SoftWorld: An experienced leader in a high-growth staffing agency who is a wizard with LinkedIn, job sites, and other social media tools. Eric’s hands-on experience also includes agency recruiting software, and he will be able to offer extremely valuable tips for maximizing your online portfolio.

This event promises to offer spirited discussions and highly valuable advice for each and every attendee. We hope you will agree that this will be a great way to kick-start the new year for you and your career!
